Commencement address of Steve Jobs

I thought that Steve Jobs was a man who was a self centered man who only thinks for his self but in his commencement address I learned more about Steve Jobs life and dedication in life in more of his being just the way he is, doing what he love. I always thought that the apple’s CEO was a man who always thought of his every move, the one who cleverly thinks of his decision every time he makes things that only he can thought of. But in this commencement address he made me think of a different Steve Jobs.

In the first story of Steve Jobs life Connecting the DOTS, he told the graduating students that he had never graduated in college nor finished a degree that he can be proud of but instead he humbly said that “this is the closest I’ve ever gotten into a college graduation. He stopped not because he was tired or bored of going to classes but he was thinking of his parents savings in their entire life spent away for his tuition. Yet he finds it to be wasteful just to be spent on his studies. So he drop out and live his life on his own, taking action for his life at the age of 17 I mean there is no typical students today who would want to drop out of school because of just the thought that this is not what I wanted and their parents money might be going to waste. Thinking he can do something in the future that would be enough of his belief he can manage his life for the next day to day living. And in that he haven’t given a bit of worry for his self but instead he thought of it as an opportunity for his self to try new, now he could do what he really wants and won’t waste a single penny for a subject he had pay that he doesn’t even know if that subject would give him an idea of his future use. He faced all the trials thinking that there is something, why he chose to quit schooling and later on he was fascinated by the calligraphy so he took up calligraphy classes and for that Steve Jobs said “It all came back to me. And we designed it all into the Mac. It was the first computer with beautiful typography. If I never dropped in on that single course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportional spaced fonts. And since Windows just copied the Mac, it’s likely that no personal computer would have them.” That was true that if he never decided for his future all of that won’t be able to come to be as it is today.

The second story Love and Loss. Like what Steve Jobs have decided he wants to find first what he really loves to do and not just to let his future be at stake going to skill learning the things he doesn’t want to do so. He said he was lucky to find what he love at a very young age of 20. They worked hard and in just ten years later the small business he and his best friend Woz put up bloomed into a $2 billion company with them as 2 employees into 4000, in this he had made a difference of a man who had nothing into something in the future because of his ability and will into pursuing what he loves. He said ten years later he got fired on his own company, he felt very devastated, he wanted to run away from the valley but still he find himself to be in love the same feeling he felt the first time he figured what he really love. He build a new company named NExT a company similar to Apple, and another company named Pixar a company who creates a fully computer animated feature film, like the Toy Story. And yet like a twist of a story Apple bought NExT and Jobs came back to the Apple and now he is the CEO of the Apple. It’s likely a twist of destiny to reconciling what has been planned for him, a taste of what he forgets to be what he really was when he has nothing but, just a simple Steve Jobs a dropped out of college, whose taking chances of what he had, and what he owns.

The third story DEATH. Steve jobs live in a saying “If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.” And like every day of his routine he faces the mirror and asks his self “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” And whenever his answer was “NO” he feels there must be something to change. Like I myself, every day I wake up I always felt that there is a missing puzzle of my life that something is wrong what I am doing and taking up every day is not me a longing for something that could fell up the missing puzzle of me though I can’t take the path the same way as what Steve Jobs had I will still do my best to find that something. It opened up a mind that there is still a chance that someday I would find that something inside me like what Jobs had and felt.

Steve Jobs had done something because even in our time, like what our facilitator had said every students mind set would be to go to school, have a high grades, finish their studies and go to a high paying job, or even go to abroad to have a more high paying jobs, that’s it no more no less but it opened my eyes that wouldn’t it be more nicer to go to school, have a high grades, finish our studies and make a business or a company. Now you can help other people, plus you would earn more money, plus you can decide for yourself because you would be the boss. I mean doesn’t it sound nicer than the usual mind set. You could make a big difference for your family, for our city, for our country or even for the world someday. And that thought, Steven Jobs and our facilitator have just gave me. STAY FOOLISH AND STAY HUNGRY.
